The yearend Holidays seem to approach more rapidly with less time - TopicsExpress

The yearend Holidays seem to approach more rapidly with less time to prepare and the repetitive question always comes to mind during this time of year, “What can I get them for Christmas?” For years it was a tradition of mine to prepare hand written Christmas Cards. They were never left with only pre-typed sentiment but individually inscribed. Never were they addressed with computer generated labels and they were always sent with a handpicked seasonal holiday stamp I selected at the post office. I don’t know if my recipients had the same amount of appreciation I do when receiving a card. Hopefully there was a moment of acknowledgement feeling; “I was remembered” as the envelope was opened, the card was read and then later on discarded after the season was over. My circle of influence has grown where handwritten cards just don’t seem realistic anymore unless I started in July. A card was likely to at least be opened however and read, but today with our hurried lives, things are so much more impersonal with texting, posts, pokes and emails all of which are gone at the stroke of a finger. The sentiment is deleted without being opened thus never existing for that individual. In actuality the thoughtfulness and the sentiment does exist however, just as impressions do, and it has always been my hope to leave you with a lasting one. The past couple years I have created a YouTube holiday song and shared it with everyone in an attempt to do something different, unique, but more importantly to share more of myself with you then can be translated through ink on any handwritten card or that can be typed in an e-mail. This year I have a few original instrumental songs and a silly arrangement I’m singing that I hope you enjoy. (Please see the latest posts below) No matter how far we advance as a society or as individuals there will always be those left less fortunate. Sadly, today the number of people in poverty and going without grows. It is wishful during a season of wishes to ask for peace, wealth, health, equality and love worldwide but it’s only realistic obtaining it perhaps in our own lives. When any of those blessings manifest themselves in our homes there should truly be a realization of thankfulness and gratitude. Sometimes the only gift someone has to share is that lasting impression once they’re no longer around you. Our impression is that “something of ourselves” that gets locked away by people as a memory and recalled when triggered. I hope you are triggered to think of me often, like I am thinking of you in this moment... and may that memory lift your spirit, give you that feeling of gratitude and occasionally put a smile on your face.
