The zamalek residents would like to present their views concerning the intention of the National authority for Tunnels to build a metro station located in zamalek island. We as zamalek residents suggest that the metro station be on the furthest part of the zamalel island not in the middle of a residential area where there are hundreds of old buildings and density of population. Actually the Zamalek residents have many serious reasons and complaints about the building of the metro inside the zamalek area. 1.Building the metro station in Medan Sidki that means the whole of Ismail Mohamed street , Hassan Sabri and Mohamed Mazhar will be dug up and thereby negatively affect all the embassies located in Zamalek all the shops and buildings and the private properties surrounded this particular area for al least four years. Not to mention the traffic. Zamalek will come to standstill because this is a main thorough-way. AS Zamalikians we are also very much concerned about sewage, drainage, the electricity cables. the gaz cables, and the high water cable as a result of the digging and the drilling. Also due to the narrow streets of zamalek, the construction process may cause complete traffic paralysis. The construction process, especially the digging phase can be considered a real threat towards preserving the unique and valuable architecture style and the distinctive character of zamalek ( approved by the National Organization for Urban Harmony).
