Theaster Gates gave quite the keynote at the 2014 NCECA Conference. NCECAs invitation of Theaster Gates to give the 2014 keynote and his delivery of The Need for Backness Within Contemporary Ceramics are both representative of the expanding role of contemporary craft as a catylist for social, political and economic reform. Hes an absolutely brilliant speaker and artist and I highly recommend watching this speech.
