#Thebeast TROY, N.Y. – Former Washington State infielder Nick Tanielu has been named to the 2014 New York-Penn League All-Star Game. The 2014 MLB draft pick will represent the Tri-City ValleyCats, the Short Season A affiliate of the Houston Astros, and the North Division in the event scheduled for Aug. 19 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Tanielu was named to the ValleyCats’ player of the month for July after batting .344 (32-for-93) with seven doubles, a triple, two home runs, 29 RBI and a .380 on-base percentage in 23 games. For the season, Tanielu is batting .306 with 14 extra-base hits and 34 RBI. He finished his Washington State career with a .364 batting average, second in school history.
