Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while. (Revelation 20:1-3, NKJV) The enemies of God make many claims about who they are, what they can do, and how God is impotent to do anything to stop them. The Lord has no need to answer back in equally challenging retorts or even to get angered over their words and actions against Him. The enemies of God can do nothing that changes anything the Lord has planned and is going to carry out. In the passage above, the devil will be helpless to prevent God from restraining him for a thousand years. The devil and all those who follow him will promptly be defeated upon his release from imprisonment. The people of God are to declare how great the Lord is rather than how great they are or that what they do makes them special. This is precisely why the Apostle Paul claimed to know nothing except Christ and Him crucified (1 Corinthians 2:1-5). Pastor Tom
