Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. (Matthew 16:6 KJV) Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27 KJV) Here are two verses that are diametrically opposite each other. On the night of Passover in Egypt, I am sure that the Israelites must have been thinking what was really happening by what God had told them to do. There were several thing that they had to do on that night that would bring death to so many people. But, the preparation for that night began seven days before, when the Israelites were commanded to eat bread made without yeast. Yeast is a symbol of sin. As they left Egypt, they were commanded to celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days by eating unleavened bread (bread with no yeast). The picture that we see of Jesus, in the New Testament, is that unleavened bread from heaven who is completely without sin. Jesus often talked about peace when He met with people. He said He was peace, and He left His peace with us when He returned to His Father on the Mount of Transfiguration. This peace comes only from God. Sin (leaven) separates us from God. There can be no peace until we find peace with God. The Bible says, “He is our peace.” Father, thank you that Jesus is that Unleavened bread from heaven. Thank you for the peace that passeth all understanding, and I pray that those, who today, are struggling to be strong and resisting temptation, will find that peace, pure and holy, through Jesus Chirst. In Jesus’s name, Amen.”
