Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, - TopicsExpress

Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath days journey. (Acts 1:12 KJV) We often haggle about Grace versus Law, Faith versus Legalism, Jewish Christianity versus Pauline Christianity. There are theological issues and praxis issues. This is a praxis question. What are we to think when Law produces a better result than Grace in praxis (as opposed to theology)? Do JWs witness more under Law than we do under grace? Do Mormons, Amish, Mennonites, Hutterites, Bruderhof have more care for widows and the fatherless under Law than we do under Grace? Why? The Orthodox Jews who flourish in this county have a powerful Law among many silly ones. You must attend synagogue within walking distance of your house and walk to it. Presto the community lives less than one Sabbath days journey from each other and they know each member of the community intimately. We have Grace and Liberty and no one knows the one sitting in front of them on Sunday. How did the early Church handle Law and Grace matters in praxis? We know by now how they handled theology? We have a theology of Grace and Love without practical benefit. Comments invited.
