“Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged” Isaiah 6:5-7. How difficult it is for a man to serve God without a sanctified heart. Isaiah was a prophet of God prophesying powerfully. Even though he was a prophet, he lacked one great quality needed by any Christian person that is to be sanctified. What is sanctification? It is a second experience of grace which was typified by the inner court in the temple built by Solomon. The temple had three altars, namely the altar of brass, gold, and the Ark of the Covenant in the Holy of Holies. The brazen altar symbolising the experience of justification which is forgiveness of sin. The golden altar symbolised sanctification which is the second experience of grace. The Ark of the Covenant represented the Holy Ghost experience. Sanctification is the regeneration of a soul of a man. It is also referred to as deliverance from the root and cause of sin. It is a great deal of pain to be called a Christian without this experience. Christianity will be all personal effort instead of it being a sweet experience. Isaiah had a similar challenge until the year his uncle King Uzziah died. That year was his good year. As he was in the presence of the Lord he confessed his sin and received his sanctification. He was delivered from misuse of his tongue. After his sanctification it was easy for him to accept God’s mission. How beautiful it is for Christians to be sanctified. Holiness is the quality of God and it’s a must to all who confess the name of God. The scripture says that all who calls the name of the Lord should depart from sin. “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not” Isaiah 6:8, 9. The book of Isaiah is one of the longest with 66 chapters equal to 66 books of the bible. The first 39 chapters (Old Testament books) relates to Israel in trouble and the last 27 chapters (New Testament books) to blessed Israel. This testimony and ability to make such prophesies finally came because his sin had been purged. He is the prophet who managed to see Christ on the cross and after the cross. My friend seek for this experience and enjoy our Christianity.
