“Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the Lord said, ‘I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.’ But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.” Genesis 6:5-8 Noah was a righteous man and found grace in the eyes of the Lord. He was told to build an ark and he did. Noah knew that the end of all mankind was upon the earth. He was given instructions and he obeyed. Jesus knew that His time on earth would be short. He knew that He would be limited in His ministry and He knew that He was appointed to die for all mankind. Jesus obeyed God. John the Baptist knew that the kingdom of God was at hand. He knew that He was to prepare the way for Jesus and he did. John was to preach repentance and to baptize. He obeyed God and did his job. Paul preached of the second coming of Christ along with the resurrection and the meaning of the Cross. Paul was instructed to be an Apostle to the Gentiles. He obeyed Jesus and did his job. Many today believe the end is imminent. I do not. I believe it is time for a revival of faith in this country and around the world. In that spirit, I have a question for you. If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, what would you do today? You see, it is not for us to wait for Jesus coming on the clouds for us to respond to the truth of the gospel. If you knew that your death was here, would you do as you always have or would you reach out to those you love? Would you offer forgiveness? Would your heart soften and you realize what is truly important in this life and recognize the shallowness of the lives we lead? Would you call on Jesus to be your Savior? Would you consider your eternal resting place? Would you find it important to find your faith? Would you worry about those you are leaving behind, whether you did enough to lead them to the Cross and Christ? Would you consider changing with everything you had? Would you ask for forgiveness? Would you be bitter and resentful? Would you have regrets? Would you choose to become obedient to God? Would you think of God at all? Consider my words and consider those that have found their place in our Holy Bible. Consider the passion with which they urged others to turn to God and His Son. Consider the prophets that urged change. Consider the examples of the blind and the deaf. And most of all, consider the Passion of Christ as He was beaten, judged and taken to the Cross to hang there and die for you and for me. Consider what you can do today to alter your tomorrows. Consider choosing Jesus. “Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.” Genesis 6:22 “And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” Philippians 2:8 Love That Cross, Pastor John Collins
