The trial of the 23 protestors, human rights defenders and activists arrested during violent clashes between garment workers and security forces that ended in the death of at least five people in early January in Cambodia, ends today, Friday 30th May, at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court of First Instance. After more than one month of a controversial trial, the 23 have been declared guilty, and been given sentences ranging from one to four years and a half. However, all sentences are suspended and all will be released. The 23 were on trial since the past 25th of April on charges of intentionally causing damage and acts of violence, in relation to their alleged role during the protests in January
