Theo Rebstock James!!! You can see our old house: 500 Paris Ave. This is the very house my life began when I was brought home from the hospital. I believe we lived here up until I was in 2nd grade before moving to Horton Ave and finally residing at 228 Christiana S...See More Chris Dickerman Ted, I forgot your Mom was from Greece. When I started traveling for the moving company your Mom stopped me to tell me how worried my Mom was and that I should call home at night when away. She was such a nice lady. Ted Rebstock Thanks, Mr Chris for sharing! I love American history and especially Brooklawn history. I couldnt comment on your post, so I had to copy. Waiting for my bro James to chime in. We were just talking about you and how you introduced Jim to. McClains Moving Co. Chris Dickerman I dont know why you couldnt comment on my post. You are on my friend list. Are you a member of the You Know You Are From Brooklawn group? James Rebstock Theo, we moved to a new house, in Oak Valley, Deptford, from 500 Paris Ave, Brooklawn( I lived at 500 Paris, from 1952, to 1962/1963, with Tommy, Teddy, Billy, Mom, Elizabeth, and Dad, Theodore). Moved winter of 1962/1963. We then lived at the new rancher, that dad had purchased at 454 Westminster Blvd, Oak Valley, just off route 45, past the Southwood Shopping Center, and NJ Turnpike, on the left of Route 45, going South. We basically all were crying there, because we loved Brooklawn, and wanted to return. Dad and Mom responded to our angst, and took a rental, at 223 Horton Ave, Brooklawn, next to B&L Weiners, Friendly Service, Mobil Gas Station. Dad got the rental lead from a friend, he went to Woodrow Wilson HS, Camden, with. When the friend found out that Dad had five kids, he had the locks changed, just before moving day. Believe it was the Summer of 1963. We arrived on moving day, dad having sold the Oak Valley rancher. Note on the door said landlord now living in Fla., and would not rent. Said too many kids. I walked around the back of the house , with dad. He took his shirt off, wrapped it around his hand, and punched out one small back window, of the back door. He declared we are moving in, a deal is a deal. We moved in, landlord always got his rent, and was very satisfied. We lived attached to Mrs. Weiner, on Route 130, at 223 Horton Ave, until the summer of 1965, moving into the large, four bedroom, Brooklawn Borough Home, at 228 Christiana St. Brooklawn. I lived their 5th Grade, up to the night of my Wedding, to Doris Williams Rebstock, Feb., 12, 1977. Of course, I lived at Dickinson College, Carlisle Pa., Sept. 1971, to May 1972. I then got an apt in Glassboro, at 297-O. Summit Ridge, Route 322 from August,1972, to 1975. Theo, you played a party there, setting up your drums in our living room, with all the furniture from Lr., Dr., Small Br., stuffed into the Mbr. I moved home prior to marriage, in 1976. We lived at 228 Christiana St., next door to Chris, Peggy, and Mark Dickerman, and their Mom, and Dad. Theo, it was Chris Dickerman, in the Summer of 1967, that asked me to come work at McClain Moving Company. My job and pay, at that time was $2/ hr, working for Fred Willson, at Melrose Motel Family Swim Club. He, Fred, also paid me 10% of the daily funds for guests, usually another 5, or 7 dollars/day. I was a 14 year old lifeguard, in 1967, and became a Teamsters 676 member, at 14. George McClain called me into the office, winter of 1967, with the Courier Post open to one of Gloucester Highs Basketball game coverage, and George said, I thought you were a Freshman, at Villanova, like Chris Dickerman, not a Freshman Varsity basketball player at Gloucester City HS. He allowed me to work, as I had become one of his strongest workers, eventually becoming his Certified Moving Consultant, after he flew me to Atlas Van Lines Moving School, in Evansville Indiana. I worked 1967-1977 for him. High School, from 1967-1971. College, 1971-1975. 500 Paris Ave, 1952 to 1962/1963 was simply PHENOMENAL. Nonstop basketball, baseball, football, swimming, FUN, FUN, FUN, EVERYDAY!!!!
