Theory of Evolution is now generally accepted to an established fact by the scientific community. The theory militates against creation of man as a single event at a particular point of time in the history of the universe. The central postulate of the theory is that evolution takes place through genetic mutation through natural selection which is a random process and has no teleological goals. Species struggle for survival in an environment hostile to them and they perish unless they succeed in adapting themselves to their surroundings or find other surroundings hospitable to them. Nature is a massively destructive force and life on the planet has a precarious existence. In this scheme there is no scope for moral considerations. There is no basis for morality in nature. There is a ferocious competition among the living beings to survive on scarce natural resources. In the animal kingdom the strong kill the weak brutally. Human history is a saga of endless bloody conflicts and wars for controlling and exploiting natural resources. This scramble continues even today. Tennyson has said: Nature is red in tooth and claw.
