Therapeutic vs. Swedish From time to time, during intake, Ive - TopicsExpress

Therapeutic vs. Swedish From time to time, during intake, Ive engaged in a conversation that begins somewhat like this, Ive had Swedish before, what is therapeutic? So I thought Id take a few minutes this beautiful moisture rich Saturday to explain the difference. Swedish is a type of massage modality or variety of techniques used during the massage that define the feeling the client will experience. Swedish is a lighter, more superficial massage that encourages circulation. Deep tissue is another type of modality that focuses more on muscle lengthening and adhesion relief. Therapeutic massage is the practice of treating the client and their corresponding concerns as a whole. It is the extent of the plan for massage with the overall goal of treatment of the concern/problem. Therapy may include swedish, deep tissue, cupping, hydrotherapy, PNF, or a combination of all modalities. Like other therapies, one session usually isnt sufficient in creating long term relief... therefore therapeutic clients are on a plan to address current issues and then modified to treat other discomforts in the future. Therapy is a close and trusted relationship between the client and practitioner and this interaction between the two is ongoing. Hope this clarifies any questions you may have had. Should any more arise, my forum is always open to your inquiries!
