There are 50 million people on snap benefits today. Up 25 million since 2008. That’s 1/6 of the United States population survives on food assistance every day. This does not even include the number of people surviving on private sources of food charity. It would be my conclusion that something about the supplemental nutrition assistance program is not working. But so many nonprofit organizations are earning a living around promoting these programs. Instead of actually helping people become self-sufficient. Apparently it is much easier to feed an addiction then to the help someone beat it.
