There are a few folk out there who, like the best training plans, make consistent sense. But make no mistake, they are in the minority. (#humblebrag) I was humbled, thrilled and suitably smug to find myself quoted in Lou Schuler and Alan Aragons new book The Lean Muscle Diet. Lou has long been one of my absolute favorite writers when it comes to all things health and fitness, funny and informative in equal measure, check him out at - louschuler/. Alan Aragon continues to make sense of the nutrition research out there, unapologetically cutting through the crap and confusion over at alanaragon/ You might call it confirmation bias. Me? Ill settle for confirmation. :) “Pain is weakness leaving the body.” If you’re an elite, competitive athlete, you really do have to play hurt and occasionally push yourself to the absolute limits of human perseverance. You’re making a calculated risk that winning now is more important than the price you’ll pay down the road. But for the rest of us, I like this rebuttal by my friend Rannoch Donald on Facebook: “Pain is not weakness leaving the body. It’s a protective mechanism that, when ignored, will simply turn up the volume until you have to pay attention. Good luck with that.”
