There are a few things here. Fundamentally, this assumes that the person has to have a job with a boss. This is not true. You can, at any level of skill or education or experience, go freelance and do your own thing instead of getting a job. However, this requires certain skills and abilities with which we are not born. We need to learn them. You can learn them in school - if you go to the right schools for long enough and pay attention - or you can learn them on the job. Also, you CAN learn them making pizzas and stocking shelves and driving cabs. These are not horrible jobs that nobody should get. I learned a tremendous amount from my time working fast food. I learned a tremendous amount from my time working security. Both positions required, basically, a pulse and the ability to stand up. Learning from them required an awareness that I DID NOT WORK FOR THE MONEY, BUT FOR THE EXPERIENCE. The money was important, sure. But the job in and of itself was important. Working fast food - especially cleaning the fry vats - taught me never be afraid of doing dirty work, because you can always shower. Working security taught me always do your best even when you THINK nobody is watching, because youre usually wrong. Looking down on the people who do these jobs is just ignorant.
