There are a few things people do wrongly on LinkedIn that I will want to bring to your notice; 1. Using lower case letters to spell your name, rank, or name of organisation I believe this is fundamental in the English language. Your name, rank, and/or name of organisation you work with must all start with UPPER CASE letters. So, for example, my name is Jonathan Adzokpe and I am the Team Lead with Hetura Books. So in writing that, I will do this... Jonathan Adzokpe, Team Lead, Hetura Books. Whenever I see this error committed by people, I cringe. Please, in todays social-media-driven era, youre either in or out. Dont try doing things anyhow. No! Be circumspect, and make good time to correct all these errors if youre a victim. No employer or recruiting officer will take a look at your profile if you cant write your own name, rank, and name of your organisation appropriately. 2. Secondly, many have incomplete profiles. I used to have my profile incomplete until I decided to complete every single detail. Since then, I have always had an average of two people visiting my profile everyday. Its increased my visibility as any detail you enter will likely connect you to people interested in those areas. So, for example, when you complete your profile and state the companies you have worked with and what roles you have held, LinkedIn has a way of suggesting you to others with similar backgrounds. Before you know it, youre getting more connected. It will definitely help in building your network, now and the future. 3. Thirdly, people lie on LinkedIn. This is a no-no. You have no business to say what youre not on social media - this is not only limited to LinkedIn, but any other social media platform. if you never worked in a company or held a certain rank, you have no business saying you did. Because if you put false information out there, people will contact you based on that information. You will see the amount of disgrace you bring to yourself just because of a lie you told.
