There are a few things that drive me absolutely nuts in this - TopicsExpress

There are a few things that drive me absolutely nuts in this fleshly life....... things like pictures hung crooked on a wall, nails scratching a blackboard and chewing with ones mouth open. Oh, and there is one more thing that grinds my last nerve and that is the misuse of scripture. I am sure that we have ALL been guilty of this from time to time, especially early in our Christian walk when we are learning the rudiments of the faith and seeking understanding from the scripture. There is one misuse of scripture that I want to do my little part to stamp out. It is a daunting task because the said passage of scripture is so widely misused that you see everywhere in print, movies and social media. The passage is Matthew 24:40-41! It follows....... Matthew 24:40-42 KJV Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. [41] Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. [42] Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. At first glance this seems to be the perfect description of the Rapture.......WRONG!!! This passage of scripture is part of the Olivet discourse and has nothing to do with the Rapture of the Church. In this passage, Jesus was addressing the Jews and He was referring to the removing from the earth by judgment those who are not going to enter the millennial kingdom at the end of the great tribulation. Before anyone references as it was in the days of Noah, let me ask you a question, Who was taken away in the days of Noah? The answer, Matthew 24:38-39 KJV For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, [39] And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. AND KNEW NOT UNTIL THE FLOOD CAME AND TOOK THEM ALL AWAY..... The ones taken away were those who perished in the flood. The ones taken away at the end of the tribulation (one in the field and one at the mill) will be unredeemed evildoers who will have no part in Christs Kingdom! There! I got that off my chest! Please help me stamp out this irritating misuse of scripture because even one misinterpreted passage causes a domino effect that leads to confusion and strife among Gods children. Hopefully, in 2015, by the grace of God, we can all get on the same page and rightly divide the Word of truth! Amen?
