There are actually some small nutritional benefits (that could be better obtained elsewhere) to fruit juices over colas and similar alternatives, but the main point is that fruit juices contain similar amounts of sugar and cause similar metabolic reactions to drinks flavored with sugar, high-fructose-corn-syrup, etc. I have seen that much sugar (especially in liquid form) have negative behavioral effects, especially in kids. Definitely something I have to keep in mind when thinking about beverage choices for my grandchildren!
