There are almost no black people in Idaho what so ever. (We have lots of whites and Mexicans.) One day I framed a picture of a white womans children for her. Her children are black because her husband is black. As she picked up the pictures another white woman came into my store and said. Oh what cute black babies. Where did you get them from? The woman replied. They are my daughters. To which the other woman replied, Yes, I understand that BUT what country did you adopt them from? The stunned mother replied. NO, I AM their mother. I gave birth to them. Still not understanding biology the other woman said bewildered, Bu..bu.. but they are black and youre white? I did the ultimate facepalm and there was an awkward silence as my customer took her pictures and left. WOW that just happened was all I could think. I am writing this to share after reading a story I read on Briiana Bottoms-Up Oney wall. Also sharing with my local homie Danni Parrett.
