There are always warning signs in a relationship... Simple things that seemed weird at the time but I put it aside... This was my wedding gift from Disney World (where I got married to my ex-husband in 1999). I remember being so excited and feeling it was the most amazing and beautiful gift we received. I remember thinking that the chocolates had to be the best part. It held so many things to look forward to using (candles, trinket box, chocolates, mini Mickey soap bars, picture frame and a golden Mickey Mouse Basket. I wanted to dive right into it but my then groom refused to allow me so I gave into his request to just leave it alone because he felt it was so nicely wrapped and together that is should just be placed on display. This was one of the first warnings that our marriage would be just that. As a wife I often felt unopened and used for appearances much like this gift... Unindulged as the 15 year old chocolates ...invisible as the picture in the frame...empty as the trinket box... Stuffed with filler to give the appearance of more... BUT two years has unpacked those feelings and brought me to an amazing place TODAY. So time to open up the gift savage what I can and re-gift it to my children who are our best outcome and made it all worth it (sounds like a metaphor to me)! Lessons learned: gifts are meant to be opened and enjoyed. Also it is important to be assertive and not settle for the way something looks and ignore that gut feeling. So much like me the gift is open and ready to be filled with LOVE!!! #cleaningthegarageout #unpackingthoseunsureboxes
