There are bad ways to BBQ marshmallows, then there are good ways, or the brilliant way of my mother in law. Here is her brilliant recipe for BBQing marshmallows. Scrounge up a few friends and some horses, then you quite simply ride up an active volcano (Pacaya), and as you get to the January to April 2014 lava flow you get off the horses and calmly walk out unto the 75 meter thick lava flow that has nicely filled in the Somma Caldera of Cerro Grande (Alta Pacaya), find a hole, and put down your stick with marshmallows. Eat and rejoice as you look up the MacKinney cone with its by now totally destroyed crater, turn around and look at the picture perfect stratovolcano of Agua whilst munching on the marshmallows. Obviously I collected a lot of volcanic samples and did my best to be scientific, but to be honest I mainly behaved like silly grinning child most of the time. After that riding down the volcano, I guess my butt will be quite sore tomorrow. Pictures and a proper post will follow as soon as I figure out how to move pictures from the camera unto the computer…
