There are classes on ethics and parliamentary procedure. Veteran lawmakers lecture about common mistakes, such as trying to be an expert on every issue instead of picking a specialty. Technical consultants offer advice for setting up offices, hiring staff and ensuring cyber security. DANG I hate that! I started reading this article, took a mouthful of coffee [hot] and hit that Classes on ethics part. Spit coffee all over my desk, and some even came out of my nose! Ethics!!!?? In Congress, government!?? If an average American had the ethics of a Congress member, we would BE IN JAIL for fraud, perjury, misappropriation of government funds, insider trading, and theft. We also wouldnt be able to have a sudden, previously unknown mental illness requiring rehab instead of jail; or like Jackson Jr., receive $45,000 in pension and $8000 a month for this newly discovered mental illness that is responsible for our illegal activity. Government is the antithesis of ethics. It probably goes something like this: Okay new people, first we would like to introduce you to Lobbyist. They will be handing out cash and gifts to you. Enjoy and dont forget to vote the way the Lobbyist want you too. Next: such as trying to be an expert on every issue instead of picking a specialty. If you are going to be in Congress, you had better be equally specialized in ALL manner of Bills and laws. I really think they should all be given an eight day course on READING THE CONSTITUTION and especially that Bill of Rights thingy [for you uninformed, uneducated Liberals: that would be First ten Amendments]. latimes/local/politics/la-me-congress-orientation-20141223-story.html
