There are days, more often than not, when Emily feels unwell in - TopicsExpress

There are days, more often than not, when Emily feels unwell in some way - perhaps nauseous, perhaps dizzy, perhaps having temper outbursts, perhaps just fatigued. These are the days when I feel unwell too - anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, fatigued. And then there are days like today, when her brain is a bit more charged and is ready to take on gentle self-driven learning. I love days like these. I love seeing Emily alert and enthusiastic and absorbing information without even realizing that shes doing it. Today we started reading the book Heidi, which I picked as its one of Emilys current favourite videos to watch. Today Emily also watched a PBS video on her iPad about trash and recycling, and then two more on Brain Pop about eating healthily and what makes a bird a bird - apparently its National Bird Day today. And she scored 100% in both the easy and harder quizzes for both videos - a mom has to brag!! Today saw us both reading from the book of Family Virtues. We have started picking a virtue a week to focus on, and this weeks virtue is respect. Today saw Emily opting to play math games on her iPad and spend time on her Wii Fit Plus. Today saw Emily smile, engage and feel happy. Today saw Emily healing! I look forward to there being more of these days like today and fewer of the setback days, even though I suspect that they play just as important a part in the healing process as what I call the good days. Sadly though, with this upcoming procedure that Emily faces, what we are currently getting used to will probably change its face again and a new and different period of healing will have to begin.
