There are giants that threaten our lives but one of the most - TopicsExpress

There are giants that threaten our lives but one of the most formidable of them - JEALOUSY. If there was ever a time to plunge your hand into the stream, grab a few stones, load up your sling and in the name of Jesus take aim, it is when this Titan is around. Jealousy, one writer defined as envy born of some deep love of self. It is the feeling of coldness and resentment that rises up when something or someone you wanted is about to be, or is being possessed by another. Now I am not telling you what Ive not experienced, luckily everyone has a fair share. Jealousy can also occur when a person hears somebody being praised, somebody with whom they had compared themselves to and thought themselves superior. Does that ring a bell? Oh I wish you can be Sincere and put that devil to shame. I admit to that sometimes, thank God for the Holy Spirit. Jealousy is also the dislike that turns to bitterness when someone attracts more attention than you, or has sipped the waters of success more deeply than you have. I am here to expose that devil. The perculiarity of this vice is that it is not usually directed against those who might seem most likely to provoke it, I mean the people who far outsrip us in attainment. Often it is focused on those who are similar to us. Doctors are rarely jealous of people who come from another group such as schoolteachers, businessmen and so on. They are jealous of their peers, the people who are most like them, someone with whom they match themselves in thought. Now, though envy and jealousy are frequently used interchangeably, there is a difference. Charles Swindoll puts it like this: Envy begins with empty hands mourning for what it doesnt have. Jealousy begins with full hands but is threatened by the loss. So jealousy is the pain of losing what I have to someone else, in spite of all my effort to keep it. One thing is sure friend, the giant of jealousy is a killer. We must make up our minds in Gods name to hault it. First is by Realising that no matter how good or best your peer appears, there is one thing he can not do better than you. Everyone has their stage and their spot light. On your stage you are the star. It depends on whose stage people are looking at, turn on the light on your stage and youll be celebrated. At least I know people dont stay in one show forever, neither do they attend one show for long. Dont let jealousy destroy you. PRAYER: Father, I come to you for freedom. I do not want to be in bondage of a giant. If jealousy is threating the peace of God in my life then together let us bring it down. I know you will do your part. Help me to do mine. Amen #PM
