There are horrific atrocities happening in the world at the moment. It is very overwhelming when you listen to the news or read the paper or even browse through Facebook and youre faced with horror that you dont know how to deal with or how to help. There is so much, I think sometimes it is easier to switch off and not have to acknowledge it, but for some reason the crisis in Iraq is on my mind day and night. I feel so deeply for the people who are caught up in this nightmare. I dont know what to do, except pray.........Now heres a little insight into my prayer life.... I am not the best pray-er! Often my prayers start...Dear God.... and before Ive completed the next sentence, my mind has wandered off and I realise several days later that I have failed AGAIN! But I am going to persist! A friend of mine put up a status on FB last week saying she was going to pray from 5:30-6:30pm every day for this situation. I thought Great idea, I will join you.....I havent done it yet! So heres what Im proposing to do... I will pray between 5:30-6:00pm every night, no matter what I am doing, cooking tea, doing dishes, whatever. I dont expect I will pray for the whole half hour. I will post on FB what I prayed for that day, in dot point. I will pray and wait and listen. I invite anyone to join me and Louise Fechner during this time, even if its just for 2 minutes to pray. These people in Iraq need our support. There are many others around the world that need help too...Israel, Palestine, Africa, and more. What can I do? I can pray and listen. So that is what I will do. My first prayer is... Dear God. Help me remember to do this!
