There are lots of great versions or this next carol, some I might even rate a bit better than this version, but since it is next on my playlist, it gets the nod this year. In a couple of these posts, I have mentioned my varied, and even sometimes eclectic, taste in music. Growing up where I did, it was inevitable that a little bit of country would creep into my musical DNA. As I have gotten older, I find myself listening to it a bit more as well. I wouldnt categorize this artist as one of my favorites in the genre, but her voice is showcased fantastically here. And actually, her version is probably on my playlist more for nostalgias sake, having nothing really to do with Christmas. The first winter/spring Samira and I were married, we spent nearly every weekend (meaning Thursday, Friday and Saturday) in St. George living at the Sun Time Inn hotel and working for the Office of Public Archaeology (OPA) at BYU on an extensive excavation project. Every Friday night, we would watch Country Music Televisions Top Ten Video Countdown ... and I swear This Kiss by Faith Hill was on that stinkin countdown show every week we were there. In a sense, I was brainwashed into become a Faith Hill fan ... sigh. I guess I should be careful though, since Samira likes Faith Hill ... wait, maybe Samira is more devious than I have initially believed. Hmmm ...
