There are many Montserratian men who have fathered children outside of Montserrat with non-montserratian women.This occurrence has been taking place for decades. Recently it has become virtually impossible for these children to obtain citizenship of the birth place of their FATHERS. Something must be radically wrong with the laws which governs citizenship by DECENT as it applies in Montserrat. In my view and that of the thousands of affected Fathers and Children is that the law discriminates against Montserrat men while allowing children been born to Montserrat women in the same circumstance to transfer citizenship to their off-springs. The authorities in Montserrat need to immediately correct this inconsistency in the law in order to ensure that all CHILDREN of Montserratian Parents no matter where they are born to obtain Montserratian Citizenship once they fulfill the requirement of producing AUTHENTIC supporting documents. This matter needs to be addressed now so that these children can become an integral part of the Montserrat Family/Society and be able to contribute meaningfully to the redevelopment of the homeland of their parents. Circumstances beyond their parents control should not deny their children from becoming Montserrat Citizens if they so desire. A MONTSERRATIAN IS A MONTSERRATIAN IS A MONTSERATIAN & should be entitled to that recognition anywhere in th World. There are no first or second class Citizens of Montserat We are one people with one aim, one goal & one destiny All Affected Montserratian Parents should rise up and let their voices be heard in order to effect change to the existing draconian Law.
