There are many bibliographies (books about books) available today. No one can possibly keep up with, more less read, all of the new and profitable books that are produced in the area of biblical and theological studies. One of the best was written by Charles H. Spurgeon. It is still a useful book and rather amusing in places as he writes about different commentaries. In the preface to Commenting and Commentaries he writes: I have used a degree of pleasantry in my remarks on the Commentaries, for a catalogue is a dry affair, and, as much for my own sake as for that of my readers, I have indulged the mirthful vein here and there. For this I hope I shall escape censure, even if I do not win commendation.
