There are many kinds of religion. What we see emerging in the 21st century is the religion of democracy. One of the most cherished values of this religion is the freedom of speech: the right to express yourself even if it offends people. Over the past few days, according to CNN, 3.7 million people demonstrated in Paris, including a number of great leaders because 17 people were murdered by Muslim extremists. Most of them political satirists who turned their satire to Mohammad and 4 or 5 Jews were killed just for being Jews. The French immediately took to the streets - enough is enough! - marching in defiance of the terrorist acts. The non-extremist Muslims are responding that they do not agree with their religion murdering people, which may be a turning point in the incessant religious warfare that has plagued the world in recent times. U.S. President Obama could sadly not join the march. However, given that he has been working tirelessly on stopping this for so long and that he is one of the most targeted men in the world, I can understand that he was unable to attend.
