There are many reasons to contact your Senators today. But three of the big ones are: 1) The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, a treaty that is based on the ADA and would allow us to continue to be a leader in accessibility and disability rights. It costs no money, we give up no sovereignty, there are only benefits to our citizens traveling abroad. 2) Reauthorization of the Rehabilitation Act S1356, we are long over due for this to be reauthorized and it has many benefits for Centers for Independent Living. 3) Subminimum wages, we need to eliminate the unfair wages for people with disabilities. Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act makes allowances to certain employers to pay unfair wages.
