There are many scripture references about chains in the Word of God. The reference to chains within the the Word is a reference to anything that holds people captive physically and spiritually. So why do we sing about these chains that hold people in captive? Why do we sing about the power in the name of Jesus to break those chains? You may not feel like you need a Savior in this season of your life. Life is going good for you. Even if hard times were to come your way it is unlikely that you would call on the name of Jesus for help. Those Jesus people are weird - really weird. Could even be a cult. Well, before you get too judgemental I am here to tell you that there are a multitude of people hurting in this world. People with addictions, feeling hopeless, money trouble, marriages failing, homeless, no pillow to lay their head upon, some are sick, facing death, they are heartbroken and they feel alone. They need those chains broken and they need a Savior. That Saviors name, Jesus. If you are reading this message, Praise the Lord, you have been blessed. Why? Because there are many who have yet to hear about this Savior named Jesus, and need Him desperately. With confidence I can say that one day YOU will meet Jesus face-to-face whether you believe in Him today or not. Oh, yes, EVERY knee will bow and EVERY tongue will confess that He is Lord. My prayer is that you know Him before then.....because, well, it doesnt end pretty if you dont know Him. So, why do we sing about the power in the name of Jesus to break chains? Well, because He is the only one that can truly set the captive free. For that reason, we sing. Know Him now, while you breath and your heart beats, know Him.
