There are many things in this world that can act as leaks in our lives. Materialism can leak out hard-earned money that we try to save. Anger can leak out love that we receive from others. Sin can leak out of the self-confidence and peace we have. Ingratitude can leak out the joy in our lives. Also, there were times when we allowed our negative attitudes to leak out all the joy in my life. Blessings were flowing into our life, but there were times we focused on the things that went wrong, the things weren’t getting, or the things others had which we didn’t. Someday, you’ll just realize that God already fixed our leak. Maybe you’ll see a man lying on the sidewalk curled up in his torn-up T-shirt and shivering in the cold or a beggar in the street searching in the trash cans for possible food. Maybe now you’ll then realize that your problems are so small compared to this man or the beggar; they didn’t even have the basic necessities of life. Stop focusing on the negative—things that went wrong, things weren’t getting or the things others had which we didn’t—and to be grateful for all God-given blessings. Stop complaining for what we only have; instead, put on that attitude of gratitude and joy to fill up our hearts. Now this is what the LORD Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.” (Haggai 1:5-6) #reflection 9/26/2013
