There are many videos of elephants painting pictures of elephants. While some people find this to be exceptional and amazing, I for one was not that impressed. The work was sub-par at best, reflecting a poor knowledge of basic elephant anatomy, spacial awareness, composition, color theory, or design. When I voiced these observations to a friend who shared one of these videos, she challenged me to do better. Now, this video shows my very first attempt at painting an elephant. I had no practice, no training, and received no tasty snacks as a reward. Also, to satisfy my friends rather droll sense of justice (humor), I created the painting by holding the brush with my nose. This seemed unfair, considering that an elephant has its whole life to develop trunk dexterity. Still, I soldiered on, and did a passable job, all things considered. With practice, and a more secure brush system, I feel I could do a much better job. Filming and commentary, along with materials and taunting, were provided by Mimi Robson.
