There are moments I am not crazy about my job. Photographing a church-sponsored explosive ordnance disposal team in action in Bor this weekend, we found some partially melted hand grenades in the remnants of a combatant whose body had been burned. As I squatted to photograph a guy carefully removing the stuff that goes boom from the ashes, he launched into an enthusiastic explanation of the different smells, and which part of the body produced which smell when it was burned. He was fascinated. Me, not so much. Be glad I don’t do scratch and sniff photos.
