There are reports that Narendra Modi helped rescue 15,000 people - TopicsExpress

There are reports that Narendra Modi helped rescue 15,000 people from the flood affected areas in Uttarakhand. Though the reports seem to be floating mostly in social media with claims that regular news media is not broadcasting that news because of pressure from the government. I was not there, so I do not have any first hand information. But having read and watched the news, it seems highly unlikely that the number 15,000 is anywhere close to being accurate. It is very possible that Modi arranged transportation for those rescued or already outside the affected areas to go back to Gujarat. And that is commendable. Even then the number 15,000 will take more than just a pinch of salt to accept. And the funny part is that I have not seen any single official statement from Modi or his government corroborating those numbers. They are not making any attempts to deny it either. But somehow his ardent supporters seem to be ready to suspend all disbelief. The reason I feel upset about this is because this makes a mockery of the effort put in by the the real heroes. The indian armed forces, the indo tibetian border police, whose personnel are braving the harsh conditions and helping people out.
