There are so many awful videos online with footage of police doing terrible things. There are pictures of law enforcement officers with horrid stories attached regarding their actions. People love to show how terrible our cops are. So Id like to take a moment to speak to the contrary: Dear Troopers, Cops, and Every Law Enforcement Officer Out There, Thank you for... Saving a life by taking a drunk driver off of the road Risking your life to prevent serious crimes Helping families through the crimes you couldnt stop Talking the broken down from suicide Talking the angry down from homicide Saving children from households of neglect and abuse Saving animals from similar households Answering the little calls, just to show the community you care Answering the big calls, because you truly do care Giving us all someone to call when we have no where else to turn Giving us all a sense of security that we so often take for granted Bringing rapists to justice Bringing child abusers to justice Bringing murders to justice Bringing the bad guys to justice Being the bad cop when the bad guy deserves it Being a good cop when 10 miles over the speed limit isnt worth a ticket Laughing at the corny jokes thrown at you during a traffic stop Keeping your cool, when you realize they werent joking Getting stolen property back to its original owner And (more importantly) kidnapped children back to their family Being the hero we often take for granted Our super heroes dont wear capes, they wear badges. We may not say thank-you nearly as often as we should. But thank you, for all you do every day, to keep us safe. Our communities would not have the same sense of security they have, if it werent for the risk you take by putting on that uniform every single day.
