There are so many things in life to be thankful for that they can not be summed up on any one given day out of the year.. But in the theme of today, I wanted to say what I am most thankful for on this fantastic thanksgiving before it expires. I am truly thankful for the vast supply of fond memories I have with this very holiday from when I was young. Not everyone grew up with the idealistic leave-it-to-Beaver family situation, and lord knows mine had its bumps....but on thanksgiving... my family was perfect. I am thankful for my memories of my grandmother and her endless supply of mouth watering recipes and how she would always make me a bag of smiley face sugar cookies no matter the holiday. I am thankful for my memories of my cousins who always included me in everything even though I was the baby of the family. I am thankful for the later additions of their husbands for not only bringing joy to their hearts but also providing highly humorous colored commentary during the Lions games. I am thankful for my memories of my grandfather who was always soft spoken and who looked out for and took care of everyone. I am thankful for the memories of my aunts and uncles who were always in the highest of spirits, smiling, and laughing (and all the inappropriate jokes). I am thankful for my memories of my sister who made life really entertaining at times. I am thankful for my memories of my mother who would always have to be the responsible one and ensure we werent late, but would always indulge in the games and antics my father planned. But today I am most thankful for my memories of my father, because I feel like this was his favorite holiday. From having thanksgiving out of a hunt club and shooting clay pigeons, to watching him play poker and egging people on to bet too much money during in-between (granted he always lost the most)...On this day, I love him and miss him the most. A special Happy Thanksgiving to my Michigan family. Thank you for giving me so many great memories. I love you all and miss you
