There are some people that I kind of wish I understood. Like people who have proof given to them - sometimes lots of it - that their statement is false. This proof is from reputable sources and has been confirmed many times. It can be verified in a variety of ways. Yet, somehow, these people somehow find more strength and conviction in something which has been shown to be patently false. Nothing seems to shake their views - and even the most ironclad proof wont change it. How does this work? I have no idea. I cant imagine any mindset where this makes sense. The truth is true. The facts are true. Neither can be made up, and no matter how you want to ignore it, pretend it doesnt exist, it isnt true, that it is somehow wrong, that it doesnt matter, or that your belief somehow is more true than than what is actually True and Verified. Nothing will make what it true false. Nothing will make a lie true. If you beliefs align with what is true, your beliefs are right. If your beliefs run counter to what is true, your beliefs are wrong. It *is* that simple. If you dont like your beliefs being wrong, then change your beliefs - but the truth wont change to match what you believe. That is, in the end, the ultimate authority - the truth. It will never change and it will never be false. You dont like something but it is true? You have your choices - get used to it, find a way to change it, or find a way to deal with it. Pretending it isnt true wont change anything, but it will cause more problems for you and anyone around you.
