There are still a lot of fires out there they are dealing with. - TopicsExpress

There are still a lot of fires out there they are dealing with. Some are still burning pretty well, but others have been thoroughly crushed and finished off. There has been only one major fire start out of the lightning this evening and that is the Foots Creek Fire. I am amazed at the GREAT job ODF did tonight. They were getting stretched really thin at one point, but they kept on it and used the air resources to great effect. Luckily for us we still had additional resources in the area due to the continuing mop up at the Oregon Gulch Fire, and the Rogue River Drive Fire. In addition, other resources were staged here as trouble was expected today. Everything came together extremely well to keep what could have been a very ugly situation from getting out of hand. Hats off to the great work that was done by the crews tonight, and that continues to be done. Initial attack is on going at Foots Creek, and there is very heavy mop up and suppression happening all over in Southern and Western Jackson County....and in Southern and Eastern Josephine County. And that is just on the ODF protected lands we could follow. Have not heard a thing about what happened with Forest Service tonight, but I know they had to be busy from Mt. Ashland all the way to the Coast in both Oregon and California. Do know that Cal Fire and the Sixes National Forest were getting sent out on new fire starts in the Rattlesnake Mountain area near Big Flats in Del Norte County. We will see how all this looks in the morning. Got to admit, it was very difficult at the height of this thing trying to stay on top of it all. Sheer craziness for quite awhile.
