There are things about being a dad that I always thought were euphemisms but turn out to be literal truths. In a day it can seem like your kid aged a year. I am with my son every day. I dont miss all that much. Im there for almost all of the significant events; first words, first steps, etc. Still I have had the strangest day with him. It seems like I missed some things. Suddenly hes explaining things in great detail with metaphors and sarcasm and with similes. Yesterday things were so literal and one dimensional. Today there is nuance and inference and wit. Im so so happy about the person hes becoming. Not only do I love him, but I LIKE him. Hes gonna make a great friend and so far Im his favorite.
