There are times when A: you think you may have been had, B: You - TopicsExpress

There are times when A: you think you may have been had, B: You become certain that you are probably a prime candidate for the new old peoples home when its built and C: You should realise that you are a man and men cant multitask without bad things happening. The story goes like this. Young Chris suggested that WE (please note the emphasis on the WE) should cook some buns together. No probs, so out comes mothers cookbook, the Kenwood and ingredients etc - and off shoots little cook back to his PS3 or whatever it was that was more exciting than helping the aged parent - not to be seen again until the job was over. I donned my flying helmet and safety boots, sparked up the Kenwood and started the sortie solo, real heroism on my part.Got the first batch in the oven and decided that this cooking malarkey was that easy that I would do a second lot - chocolate buns (using cocoa powder) this time. So there I was, with one lot in the oven, weighing ingredients for the second lot, keeping an eye on Facebook and Twitter - as you do, nothing to this multitasking business. First batch of buns out - looked and tasted great but the mixture for the second lot seemed a bit strange. Might be a tad dry perhaps thought I. In they went and after the appointed time out they came again. They definitely did look a bit strange - oh well, as they say looks dont matter. Little cook then re-appeared and wanted to try one and proceeded to splutter like an old petrol on a damp morning after the first mouthful. I was just about to lay into him about being an ungrateful young thing, me slaving away over a hot stove with me rickety old knees etc etc but I thought I would first try one just to see what he was being so girly about - but after the first mouthful (the first, horrible, half dry and definitely bitter mouthful) the penny dropped - what stupid old git had gone and forgotten to add the sugar ?!!! Oh well, the second batch of buns are now in the bin and Im being treated by the family as being someone who may have gone beyond the point where care in the community is an option ! :-)
