There are two sides to every story. I understand why activists would be paranoid over someone who had professional connections to the FBI apparatus, but this man should not be punished for his academic trainings he was hired for. One of the BIGGEST mistakes America makes globally is an inattention to differing cultural history and perceptions. It is NOT all about us. You need to act in a culturally sensitive manner or your help will be taken wrongly. The American traditionally military has one tactic: bomb. In dealing with radical Islamic splinter groups, that approach does NOT work and only makes the problem worse. It seems like that is what this man was doing with the FBI: teaching cultural sensitivity and the historical reasons for Islamic terrorism and to COMBAT Islamaphobia. It would however make anyone in the activist community nervous. Police departments across the country have anti-domestic terrorism infiltrators and work with the FBI. This has been done for decades and since the American Military-Industrial-Prison complex is the largest on then planet, why would they NOT be infiltrating left-wing radical groups to find their agendas since much is make public through internet communications. In the 1950s the red Scare caused leftists to get jailed across the country. There were witch hunts. In the ERA of the Tea Party and reactionary right-wing politics combined with Obamas unjustifiable and internationally illegal drone program......why would activists NOT be paranoid? I think though everyone should leave this poor man alone. If he really was a mole he would not have as much information about his teaching activities on-line and he seems to have enough leftist credentials otherwise. Just beware, there are infiltrators out there. This is not paranoia....just reality. The fossil fuel industry alone has billions at stake through coal, LNG and oil exports through the west coast and we will NOT have it.
