There are wheelchairs around the world that have been custom-built - TopicsExpress

There are wheelchairs around the world that have been custom-built specifically for people’s needs. Now, a team of London-based researchers have built one for people who can only move their eyes. On June, this year, Imperial College London senior lecturer Aldo Faisal and his team of 15 demonstrated the world’s first eye-controlled wheelchair. Look where you want to go, and webcams analyze your gaze. The chair moves accordingly. The wheelchair is still a prototype. It’s difficult for the computer to determine whether someone is looking at the monument across the street because they want to see the structure’s details, or because they want to get up close to it. But once the team finishes the research, Faisal hopes to make the program commercially available for any wheelchair.
