There exist a little slice of waterfront heaven on earth here in Sackets called Campbells Point. In 1800 the area which was called Crows Point was included in a land grant purchased by Ezra Hounsfield on behalf of his brother Bartholomew Hounsfield. Between the years 1803-1807 a Scottish settlement was formed in the village of Henderson. Among those early arrivals was Duncan Campbell, wife Isabella and their youngest son Archibald. Archibald began negotiations around 1827 with the heirs of Hounsfield in England to purchase Crows Point. In 1853 the sale was concluded Archibald had bought the 41.43 acres that is now known as Campbells point . The point has an amazing history we will share as we collect interesting and little know facts about what is today a privately owned cottage community.
