There has been a big to-do in the climbing world about the news - TopicsExpress

There has been a big to-do in the climbing world about the news that Clif Bar withdrew contracts for five of its big sponsored athletes by claiming that what they are doing is too risky. Having shot Alex Honnold free soloing over the years, including for our Nikon D4 release video “WHY,” I’ve always had mixed feelings about walking the fine line between capturing inspiration and promoting something dangerous. If nothing else, this event has produced an interesting discussion in the mainstream media. Check out these two articles. The first is an editorial by Alex Honnold himself, in The New York Times. And the second is an essay about risk misperception by my friend Andrew Bisharat, written for National Geographic Adventure. So … what do you think?
