There has been a lot of questions throughout the local area asking if the Dubbo Dirt Bike Club is closing down at the end of the year, so I thought I put my take on this from the way I see them. Over the past 5 to 6 years the committees have done an outstanding job bringing the Dubbo venue to a standard that many other clubs strive to meet. The current committee has done unreal job at times with little help and some criticism along the way. To stage 2 Roar meetings and 2 State Tiltles has been an awesome job. From posts made lately it appears the majority of the current committee are resigning at the end of this year. It will be very dissapointing if this does happen with the club being as strong as it is. At present the club is trying to rally up new committe people for the 2015 season. The current work situation of many people involved with children racing at present really impacts on them being able to put their hand up, they either do FIFO, do shift work or many have their own businesses. The DDBC has been extremely lucky over the past of having people available who have been able to manage their work life, commitments to the club and their social life which has probably been non existent. I along with others have seen the DDBC grow from having 40 junior riders per meeting to what it is today. When there were low entries the working bees consisted of 2 or 3 people, admittedly neither the venue or track was as good as it has been over the past few years. Clubs have their ups and downs it has happened to most of our local clubs in previous years. So finally the way I see what is going to happen at the end of this year is one of 3 things either some of the committee will remain and a few new faces will step in, a complete new committee will take over or a few dedicated people will continue to run race meetings and the standard of the venue will drop off. So in saying what I have said I doubt very much if the DDBC will close at the end of 2014. Its really up to the club members what will happen in 2015.
