There has been some discussions on the Swain family over the years on the tracing your Roots in Greene Co list page. Found in the Recorder of Jan 23, 1903: H.C. Swain, of the firm of H.C. Swain & son, New York city, was in town on Tuesday, looking over the chair factory property with a view of leasing it for a term of years, to be used as a general furniture factory to manufacturer for his large export trade. There are yet some details in this transaction to be adjusted, but we feel reasonable sure of the deal being consummated. In operation this enterprise will require about 3000 feet of hard and soft lumber daily and give employment to 50 men. - Hunter Review
