There has been some talk on here since the gig on Sunday about Paul Brady and some people talking about when they first heard the Island. One of my Paul Brady stories also concerns The Island. We were doing the Trick Or Treat tour in America and were playing in Boston of Chicago and in the middle of the show Paul would play a couple of his well known solo pieces and then the Island where I would come back on for that nice acoustic guitar bit. I went backstage and got a beer and after a little while I wandered off to the loo. I could hear Paul introduce the Island so I knew it was time to make my way to the stage. I tried to open the door and it was stuck with the lock jammed and no handle or anything to try and open it. I tried calling the other guys in the band but they had already gone back to the stage. I started to panic as the song was moving on and banged on the door and started really shouting for help and suddenly I could hear that two bar held chord that sets up the guitar figure and it held for what seemed an eternity hoping I would arrive before angrily playing the figure itself. Before long the tour manager came looking and pushed in the door from the outside and I sheepishly returned to the stage trying to avoid Pauls understandable glare.
