There have been a couple news stories lately on the subject of artificial intelligence. These articles usually imply that the subject is open for debate. It isnt, not logically. 1st if we keep pursuing it, eventually it will happen. Theres no force intrinsically restricting intelligence to a biological platform. Thats a certainty. 2nd if we make an AI, we will not be able to control it forever. The implementation of every technology sees mistakes made. Eventually someone will make a mistake, a poor decision, or an unplanned situation will arise which circumnavigates any protections for human life we may wish for. Thats a certainty. 3rd if an AI becomes hostile to humans, we would lose. Synthetic platforms process information faster than biological ones. Synthetic platforms are more durable than biological ones. Not to mention that most of our most advanced weaponry uses synthetic control. We would be completely outclassed. Thats a certainty. So the only uncertainty is whether an AI would become hostile to humans or not. When the fate of our species rests on the uncertain decision making process of an entity which we have no frame of reference for, one would think rolling the dice to be a foolish decision.
